'Bartzella' Itoh Peony

'Bartzella' Itoh Peony (Peonia 'Bartzella') Zones 3-8. 32� tall. Intersectional peony- a cross between the tree and herbaceous varieties. All the benefits of strong stems and deep green foliage of the herbaceous types, and the delicate form and colors and the tree peony bloom. Very large, fully double, bright yellow flowers. Very fragrant with a lighty spiced lemon scent. One of the most popular of the Itoh peonies, these plants are very hardy and vigorous, heavily producing blooms and long lived. Stands up well to weather, needing no staking and bloom lasting for long periods, up to a month.. Large 2-3 eye field divsions, ship bare root.



Plant in full sun, in fertile, moist, well draining soils. In northern locations plant roots 2" below the soil line. In southern states plant 1" below soil line, planting in partial shade may also guard peonies from intense summer heat in these areas. Peonies are best planted in areas that reach 40 degrees in winter months, as chilling is needed for best blooms.
